Mid-Autumn Lantern Craft Competition 2026 (Category B)

This Competition (“Competition”), organised by Cheras LeisureMall (“Organiser”) is open to all Malaysians aged 18 years old and above. Participants must take part in pairs during the Competition.

Interested participants may register and submit an entry for the Competition by 5 August 2026 via the Microsoft Form (Mid-Autumn Lantern Craft Competition 2026 中秋灯笼制作比赛 – Fill out form). All participants are required to bring their own art materials (i.e. scissors, paper cutter, multi-coloured cellophane papers, coloured papers, lantern cloth or other suitable fabrics, glue, old newspapers or a cutting mat, stationeries and colouring materials such as poster colour, magic colour pen, fluorescent marker, colour spray paint & etc) on the Competition day.   

The lantern artwork must be based on the theme of Where Mid-Autumn Meets Korean Charm. All drawing, colouring, cutting, decorating and pasting must be carried out and completed during the Competition day. Participants may prepare the lantern frame (skeleton) and decorative items (i.e. flowers, butterflies, ornaments & etc) in advance. However, all components must be assembled during the Competition, and no pre-assembled lanterns will be allowed. 

The lantern must comply with the following specifications: 

1. Material: One of the materials used must be recyclable or eco-friendly. NO GLASS, STAINLESS STEEL, IRON AND SOLID WOOD.

2. Size: Not smaller than 60cm (H) x 40cm (W/L) but not larger than 70cm (H) x 50cm (W/L) (The lantern must be capable of being hung at height and easily assembled and disassembled) 

3. Shape: Hexagonal  

4. Lighting: All participating lanterns must have LED lights with total load not exceeding 100 watts of electricity supply

5. Weight: Not more than 15kg 

6. Others: Mechanical moveable parts are optional but must be connected to the wiring circuit. Battery powered connections are discouraged.       

Judging will be based on the following criteria: Creativity of Design (30%), Craftsmanship (20%), Lighting Effects (10%), Eco-friendly Aspect of the Lantern (10%), Sustainability of Material Used (10%), Proximity to Theme (10%), Overall Presentation (10%). Scores will be deducted if the artwork includes readymade decorative items that are not handcrafted by the participants. 

The winners and qualified participants will be awarded the following prizes per team: 

1. Top 3 Teams: RM500 Cash Prize + Cheras LeisureMall Cash Vouchers worth RM500.00 + Trophy + Certificate

2. 5 Excellence Awards: RM300 Cash Prize + Cheras LeisureMall Cash Vouchers worth RM300.00 + Trophy + Certificate

3. 5 Special Awards: RM200 Cash Prize + Cheras LeisureMall Cash Vouchers worth RM200.00 + Trophy + Certificate

4. Participation Award: Cheras LeisureMall Cash Vouchers worth RM100.00 + Trophy + Certificate (for completed and qualified submission)

All submitted lanterns will be displayed at Cheras LeisureMall from 4 September 2026 until 27 September 2026. 

The judges’ decision is final and no further requests, claims or correspondence whatsoever will be entertained.

The Organiser reserves the sole and absolute discretion to reject and disqualify any lantern deemed unsuitable for display, offensive in nature or which are not compliant with the Terms & Conditions of the Competition. 

The Organiser reserves the right to disqualify winners found to be in breach of the Terms & Conditions stated herein.

Each winning team is entitled to one (1) prize only. All prizes are non-transferable and not exchangeable for cash.

The winners’ announcement and prize presentation will be held on 9 August 2026 (Sunday), at 5:00PM at the Lower Ground Concourse, Cheras LeisureMall.

The Organiser shall not be held responsible of liable for any loss or damage whatsoever and howsoever caused to the lantern after the lantern have been submitted to the Organiser and no claims whatsoever can be made against the Organiser in such an event. Lanterns which have been submitted to the Organiser for the Competition can be collected from 6 October 2026 onwards at the Information Counter (WhatsApp +60 159 224 7193 for lantern collection arrangement). If the lanterns are not collected by 25 October 2026, the Organiser reserves the right to dispose of or otherwise deal with the lanterns at its sole discretion without any further notice or liability to the participants.

The Organiser will not be responsible for any accident, mishap, death, damage or injuries occurring during the Competition or in connection with the Competition in any manner whatsoever. No claims of any kind can be made against the Organiser. Participants agree to be bound by the Terms & Conditions and final decision of the Organiser.

The Organiser retains all rights to publish and use the names, personal details, photographs and/or video recordings of the participants including all materials submitted during the Competition for the purposes of advertising and/or trade publicity for promotions, without any prior notice to the participants who by submitting their entries to the Competition hereby consent to such use by the Organiser. All participants shall not be entitled to claim ownership or other forms of claims or compensation whatsoever on any of the materials submitted to enter the Competition. By submitting an entry to the Competition, each hereby consent to continue receiving promotional materials and information from PPB Group Berhad.

The Organiser reserves the right at its sole and absolute discretion to amend the Terms & Conditions mentioned above or in connection with the Competition at any time without prior notice. 

The Organiser reserves the right at its sole and absolute discretion to suspend, modify or terminate the Competition at any time without prior notice.

The Organiser’s decision on any and all matters in respect of the Competition is final and conclusive and no further, challenges, objections, requests, claims or correspondence whatsoever will be entertained.

Upon submitting an entry to the Competition, the participant is deemed to have accepted the Terms & Conditions of this Competition and the participant acknowledges that he/she has read and understood PPB Group Berhad's Privacy Policy and Personal Data Notice which can be found on website (https://www.ppbgroup.com/governance-sustainability/personal-data-protection/notice)  and consents to the usage, collecting, recording and processing of his/her personal data for the purposes stated in such notice and in connection herein.
